Whitney Stahl was born in Miami, Florida in 1986 and grew up in the mountains of North Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Arts & Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 2008.  Whitney wanted to get back to using her hands for her work, and became interested in Book Arts, utilizing her design and computer skills.

She received a Masters of Art at the Corcoran College of Art & Design, in the Art and the Book Program.  Her yearlong internship at the Library of Congress sparked an interest in writing about emerging Book Arts, and the history; while exploring the book form herself.  Whitney incorporates letterpress, printmaking, photography and her hand binding and papermaking skills to create artists’ books to engage the reader in an unexpected personal experience. She is now back living and making art in Western North Carolina.
